WONUWALI! means
"thank you" in susu (soussou) language that is spoken
in the Republic of Guinea, West Africa. Wonuwali's rhythms and dances
come from Guinea and it's neighbouring countries like Sierra Leone,
The Gambia, Ivory Coast, Mali and Senegal. In each country there
are lots of different ethnic groups that have each their own traditions.
Wonuwali performs their own arrangements of traditional rhytmes
and dances.
Wonuwali's leader, dancer and musician N'Fanly "Alya"
Camara was professionally trained in his home country Guinea where
music and dance traditions are appreciated and alive even today.
Wonuwali's talented Finnish-African group masters different traditional
dances and instruments.
Wonuwali was founded in 1998 and has been performing in different
festivals and events all around Finland and even as far away as
China. The musicians and dancers are
appreciated performers who also teach in Finland and other countries.
